The ancient battle of euphemisms about abortion was refought last night and sometimes one can only be grateful for parliamentarians who endured the rhetoric. The time limit for abortions remains unchanged as a result and the service survives. There is coverage available all over the media but two personal hat-tips, one to Evan Harris, MP for Abingdon and Oxford West and another to Tim' Bloggerheads' Ireland who is doing a thorough fisking of some of the more religiously inspired antis.

This is statporn

The Devil's Kitchen: Some opinionated bloggers like to boast about the size of their web statistics. And Devil's Kitchen has been hosting a marvellously profane and foul row between some big name Brit bloggers all about this. It's really quite entertaining in between all the jargon. To me, the stupidity of statporn and the endless human mania for measuring absolutely everything conjure up so many compelling images. Obviously, I ought to add here that I watch statporn too. The trick is not feeling one has to publish it to justify a place in any conversation. But in turn, this nice theory has a problem because when you are attempting to make a profit-generating business out of it, people will ask you difficult questions about your statporn.

Remebrance day news
This Remembrance day, please remember what you are not allowed to do in Westminster's Parliament Square, thanks to our government. This is a fine piece of public spirited journalism from Tim Ireland.
UPDATED: And to those who say the internet can't change anything, I say you are right, it can't, but the people who use it can. Read the response that Tim got to his efforts. Little things matter, especially when talking about daft laws.
